The Sunday paper

Today I swear, I am going to COMPLETE some assignment, any one, I'm going to complete one. There is a slight possibility that I and my son will see a movie and have dinner. I'd love to hit a bucket of balls at the driving range. Or play a round of golf. After that, whatever the activity might be, I will sit in my office and complete an assignment.

The Sunday paper? G20 on front page, something about "pledging big things for the global economy," is this a good thing? I read a professor's blog last night about higher education in Louisiana being hit, and hit hard, by budget cuts. The blog called for us, American's who might give a darn, to call representatives and senators. Wouldn't it be great if we all got together and agreed to do so? I think our representatives and senators are receiving calls, from big business entities, financial institutions, and groups backed by lawmakers. Backed by the lawmakers in whom they've invested. Is there a group or a cause receiving support from an elected official or officials simply because the official believed in it? I wonder. An organization receiving electoral support, strong, enthusiastic, publicly acclaimed support, without investing anything to ensure such support. Doubtful. Yet, maybe not, come one let's give this issue the benefit of the doubt. One can learn more with a careful, skillful, search of the Internet. I'll volunteer.

Employment? Should I be concerned with finding employment when I have 2 1/2 months left of school? Should I concentrate solely on the remainder of the semester? Should I forget about searching for a job, and do all possible to finish school with a bang? Well let me think about it for a moment. Imagine I graduated last night and it's mid-December. Tweak my resume, put together a fine portfolio on CD and hard copy, make a list of available opportunities in my city, and in surrounding areas. I will also check larger bit cities, such as Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta. Perhaps some companies have openings locally, yet headquartered out-of-state. Am I capable of doing nothing, no thinking, no preparation, no internet search for employment I may love, or will settle for if I need? I don't think I can do that; completely forget about a job, for 2-3 months. Time does fly. Finding employment is a big deal. I believe it is smart to monitor the employment market.
